The contest is organized to practically celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
Besides, the contest is also a meaningful program on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first publication of SGGP Newspaper (May 5, 1975 - May 5, 2025).
At the ceremony, journalist Nguyen Khac Van - Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of SGGP Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, said: "The contest "The Country of a Thousand Flowers" is organized nationwide, launched on newspapers, social networks, at all levels of association and branch photography associations nationwide under VAPA, with 5 topic clusters: Achievement, Dedication, Thousand Miles of Country, Green Development, For Children, with a total value of about 600 million VND.
In addition, authors also have the opportunity to receive gold, silver, bronze medals and certificates of regional exhibition recognition from VAPA."
12 outstanding works will be selected for medals (including 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 6 bronze medals).
The organizers hope that the contest will contribute to promoting the capacity and passion of the photography community at home and abroad; encouraging the creation of valuable works in the cause of national liberation, the cause of building and developing a peaceful and prosperous Vietnam.
Entries can be new compositions or compositions created since April 30, 1975 to present, in accordance with the contest rules.
According to the Contest Rules, the work must have been created from April 30, 1975 to March 31, 2025 and has never won any prize in any contest organized or sponsored by VAPA. For paper photos, the author or the author's relatives send the original or take a photo of the work, the person submitting the work is responsible for any copyright disputes.
Works must not be collaged, added, subtracted, or distorted to change the actual content of the photo (except for Panorama collages) and must not be created based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
At the announcement ceremony of this meaningful contest, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, emphasized: " The contest has a time range for the time of taking photos spanning the past 50 years, from the Liberation Day of the South, National Reunification Day to the present. This is especially meaningful, especially when Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country organize many exciting activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the South, National Reunification Day.
The seriousness and artistry of the contest are clear. I appreciate the fact that the contest identified this as an opportunity to select typical works to provide for the city's documentation system not only during the time leading up to the 50th anniversary of national reunification but also for many years to come. This is historical documentation in visual form."
The photo contest “Land of a Thousand Flowers” organized by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists contributes to enriching the works and events in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to celebrate the great national holiday with proud and humane moments and spreading positive values to the community.
