To celebrate the 950th anniversary of the founding of Quoc Tu Giam - the first university in Vietnam, the Vietnam Association for Promotion of Cinema Development in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Cultural and Scientific Activities Center launched the short film contest "Talents of Today".
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Bui Duy Cuong - Vice Chairman of Hanoi City People's Committee said that cinema is one of the fields capable of strongly spreading cultural, historical and human values of Vietnam through modern art language.
The short film contest "Talents today" is organized not only to create a creative playground for young filmmakers but also to contribute to connecting heritage with contemporary life, arousing creative inspiration from the tradition of studiousness and the spirit of valuing talent of the nation," Mr. Cuong said.

The contest is one of the meaningful activities to honor the tradition of studiousness, and at the same time encourage the young generation to retell stories about knowledge, teachers, creative spirit and responsibility to the community in modern cinematic language.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting the Development of Cinema (VFDA) said that the short film contest not only contributes to spreading cultural values but also affirms the sustainable role of cinema in social life.
Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan emphasized that through the contest, the image of a new generation of young people who are dynamic, confident, creative, humane and more responsible to the community can be clearly seen.

According to the Organizing Committee, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam is not only a typical historical and cultural relic but also a symbol of the spirit of studiousness and valuing talents for many centuries. From that value, the contest aims to connect cinema with education and heritage, spreading the spirit of inheriting the national science tradition in the new era.
Entries can explore many topics such as the aspiration for learning of young people, the image of teachers, the role of knowledge in the digital age or typical individuals in learning, research and creativity.
Meritorious Artist. Dr. Bui Nhu Lai - Rector of Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema expressed his wish that the contest will be spread more widely to young people.
According to him, young people today possess a modern, creative storytelling mindset and can create attractive films suitable for contemporary cinematic language with simple devices.
Mr. Bui Nhu Lai expects the competition to feature many anticipated works and bring new perspectives from the young filmmaking generation.

The contest is for Vietnamese citizens at home and abroad aged 15 and over. Works belong to the genres of feature films, documentaries, animated films or combinations of many forms, with a duration of 3 to 15 minutes and reaching Full HD standard or higher.
Notably, the Organizing Committee allows contestants to use AI tools in the creative process, but the rate of use does not exceed 20% of the total film duration.

The time to receive entries lasts from May 13 to the end of August 10, 2026.
The first prize of the contest is worth 50 million VND, in addition to many prizes for creative ideas and the most loved works.
