Born in 1993, actor Phuong Nam once had the opportunity to collaborate with the People's Army Cinema in the male lead role - Captain Duy Hoang in the feature film "The Rose Squad". Most recently, the actor continued to appear in the main role of actor Tran Dinh Ta of Squad 1 in the feature film "Red Rain".
What made you participate in the film project "Red Rain" - a revolutionary war film whose production will be more difficult and arduous than films on contemporary topics?
- I decided to participate in "Red Rain" not to express myself or challenge my acting ability, but at that time I simply thought this was a historical war film with great significance. We live in peace and independence, but we do not witness our ancestors sacrificing and falling to preserve that independence.
Through the film, I and many young people will understand that having such a beautiful peace is due to the sacrifices and trade-offs of our ancestors. After participating in the film, I knew my choice was very correct.
According to the crew, "Red Rain" does not only have one main actor, but the main actors are the entire Squad 1. Can you tell us more about this?
- Once, I shared with a roommate: "If there is a person who has all the personalities of the seven brothers in Squad 1, that person can become a Super Hero". Because each of the seven brothers has their own strengths and personalities, one is strong, intelligent, one is decisive, humorous, one is emotional and dreamy. That's why when combined, they will create a perfect main character. And everyone will see the spirit of that main character when enjoying the movie.
That is why "Red Rain" does not have just one main character but many pieces and personalities that create the image of a main character. I am very grateful and touched by that.
Please share your feelings and passion for the role?
- My role is a soldier fighting in Quang Tri Citadel. The special thing about the role is that I can comfortably speak in the local accent, the accent of Thanh Hoa countryside, which is my hometown. For this role, I set very high requirements for myself. Because I understand the meaning of the film, I have read and understood to some extent the character's aspirations and wishes.
Therefore, in addition to my own efforts, other actors also try day and night to fully embody their roles. I hope that my efforts this time will contribute to creating a work as expected, will recreate and convey humane and meaningful values to the hearts of the audience.
