According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, in 2024, Kon Plong district welcomed more than 1.3 million visitors, achieving revenue of over 240 billion VND. Currently, the whole district has 7 tourist destinations recognized by the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee. For a remote mountainous district, this number is an impressive achievement, contributing to improving people's lives.
Mr. Dang Quang Ha, Chairman of Kon Plong District People's Committee, said that the number of tourists coming to Mang Den to visit and experience the culture, climate and agricultural ecosystem is increasing.
In 2023 and 2024, the district reached and exceeded the 1 million visitor mark. Two prominent community tourism destinations are Kon Pring Community Tourism Village (Mang Den town) and Vi Ro Ngheo Community Tourism Village (Dak Tang commune) which have attracted a large number of visitors.
In particular, during the holidays and Tet, Mang Den town, at an altitude of 1,200m above sea level, welcomed up to 50,000 visitors. Currently, Mang Den has 70 accommodation establishments, including resorts, hotels, homestays and motels, with more than 800 rooms, which can serve about 4,500 guests per day.
The Prime Minister has approved the master plan for the construction of Mang Den tourist area until 2045, with the goal of developing this tourist area into a national tourist center. Kon Tum is striving to turn Mang Den into a branded national tourist area by 2045.
In August 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation visited and worked in Kon Plong district and emphasized that the development of Mang Den National Tourist Area must be consistent with the green, sustainable and inclusive development orientation of the entire Kon Tum province. Mang Den development must be green, circular, digital economy, sharing economy, following the motto "forest in the city; city in the forest"...
Developing ecotourism and nature
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province said that the province's tourism industry aims to welcome 1.7 million visitors in 2025, with revenue of VND950 billion.
Currently, Gia Lai and the Central Highlands provinces are becoming new and attractive tourist destinations on the Vietnam tourism map. According to the Google Year Search 2024 list, the keyword "Gia Lai Tourism" has entered the top 5 searches for domestic tourist destinations. This is one of the 7 prominent topics announced in Google's search list, along with topics such as AI, movies, concerts, skills and how to do. "Gia Lai Tourism" ranks 5th among the search keywords for tourism in Vietnam.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich, Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, said that Gia Lai tourism is currently focusing on investing in two main clusters in the East and West of the province.
The Eastern cluster will develop eco-tourism in the Kon Ha Nung Plateau World Biosphere Reserve, while connecting with the forests and seas of Binh Dinh province. The Western cluster will plan the Bien Ho and Chu Dang Ya volcano tourist area, combined with the Se San River tourism system, Ialy hydropower plant and tourism links with Kon Tum province.
