Phu Gia horse hat village in Cat Tuong commune (Phu Cat district) has a history of formation and development of more than 300 years. Phu Gia horse hat products are considered a unique work of art, symbolizing the strength and majesty of the martial family, associated with the history of the Tay Son uprising.
Phu Gia traditional horse hat craft village currently has about 110 production households with more than 300 workers, producing more than 3,300 products each year.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of Phu Cat District People's Committee - said that Phu Gia horse hat making craft in Cat Tuong commune was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, contributing to raising awareness of the cultural value of this type of heritage.
"In the coming time, we will have a detailed plan to maintain production and promote the craft village. In addition, the district will form an exhibition area for products of Phu Gia horse hat craft village," said Mr. Hung.
The Phu Gia horse hat weaving craft in Cat Tuong commune (Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh province) was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the 5th National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Binh Dinh to be recognized after Traditional Martial Arts, Hat Boi, Bai Choi Art, and Ba Pagoda Festival - Nuoc Man Port.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lam Hai Giang - Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee - said that "Phu Gia horse hat weaving craft" being recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage is the pride and honor of the people of Cat Tuong commune in particular and Binh Dinh province in general.
In order for Phu Gia horse hat weaving to develop better and spread more and more in the flow of national culture, Phu Cat district must proactively coordinate with relevant sectors to develop a comprehensive and detailed plan for the craft village and develop and implement solutions, mechanisms and policies to support artisans to preserve and pass on the craft, and support production and consumption of products.
Currently, Phu Gia horse hat is present in all provinces and cities, including abroad. The fact that Phu Gia horse hat making craft is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage has affirmed the sustainable value and strong vitality of the craft village, honoring and praising the community, especially the artisans in preserving, conserving and promoting the value of the heritage.
