China is getting closer to putting its most modern aircraft carrier, named Fujian, into operation. According to China Central Television (CCTV), the ship is expected to officially join the Navy this year after 3 years since launching at the Jiangnan Shipyard.
The Fujian is China's third aircraft carrier and also the largest, with a capacity of more than 80,000 tons of water expansion when fully loaded. This is the first airport in the world to use conventional energy but equipped with a electromagnetic projector system - an advanced technology that previously only appeared on the US nuclear-powered Mrs. Donald R. Ford. The design of a flat flight deck and 3 electr electromechanical launchers allows Phuc Kien to deploy modern aircraft more flexibly and effectively.
Since launching, the ship has undergone 8 sea testing. In its most recent test in late May, the spacecraft conducted flights with the participation of the Shenyang J-35 stealth fighter, which was adjusted to take off on a launcher. This activity shows that the ship is entering the final assessment stage before officially starting operation.
Phuc Kien is designed to support a diverse fleet of aircraft, including fighter jets, electronic warfare jets, early warning and air control aircraft, anti-submarine fighter jets and drones. Radar AESA and the high-energy generator on the ship allow for compatible with advanced weapons systems in the future, such as laser weapons and electromagnetic guns.
