On March 22, the Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board (PMB) said that the construction unit is carrying out the pruning, cutting and relocation of 14 green trees to serve the Can Tho City Library project.

According to the Project Management Board, the Phong Dien Area Project Management Board has completed the transportation route, helping the construction unit to focus on relocating green trees and implementing the next items of the project.
The Can Tho City Library project has a total investment of nearly 150 billion VND, started at the end of February 2025, but after more than a year of implementation, it is still facing many difficulties, including not being able to handle 14 green trees located within the project premises.
These trees have a large diameter, are decades old, and are located right at the pile driving position, so the foundation construction cannot be deployed yet. According to the plan of specialized agencies, all the trees will be relocated instead of being cut down.
The project is built at land plot No. 1 Phan Dinh Phung street, Ninh Kieu ward, with an area of more than 2,424m2. Up to now, the construction value has only reached about 6% of the contract, and the acceptance value has reached 4.5%.
According to the design, the project includes 1 basement, 1 technical floor and 6 above-ground floors, with a total floor area of about 8,647m2, with a capacity of about 800 people. While waiting for completion, the library is currently operating temporarily at another location in Ninh Kieu ward.
