In the 2023-2024 school year, the school received professional support as well as support for many books to build a Friendly Library. Accordingly, the Friendly Library has many differences from traditional libraries such as being arranged in an open and friendly direction to encourage students to come to the library, creating conditions for them to easily access books, suitable for their interests and reading ability.
Books displayed on shelves are classified according to students’ level and color-coded. In addition, the friendly library is arranged with different learning corners such as writing and drawing corner, research corner, game corner, free reading corner… to encourage students to read many types of books and develop their creativity.
Talking to reporters, teacher Do Tien Dung - Principal of the school said: "The Friendly Library model focuses on students to form the habit of reading books for them right from the first days of school, training students to develop their capacity and qualities, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education, helping students have a good reading environment and helping them be more aware of forming a reading culture, knowing how to love and appreciate books, always considering books as a friend to supplement their knowledge."
In addition, during this school year, the school also organized a “Reading Festival”. This activity received active participation and support from parents and local people. Through the activities of the “Reading Festival”, parents learned more about the school’s friendly library and its rich and diverse reading promotion activities.
"This is an activity to promote, encourage and build reading habits and reading skills for students, while also creating conditions for parents to participate in reading promotion activities with their children, leading to the whole family reading together," said Mr. Dung.
Encouraging parents to participate with their children in activities has increased the connection between family and school, contributing to maintaining sustainable library activities.
It can be said that the presence of the Friendly Library at Xuat Hoa Primary and Secondary School is both an honor and a very favorable condition to contribute to meeting the requirements of implementing the school's development goals and strategies in the new period. This is a great joy but also a challenge, requiring the school's staff, teachers and students to continue to strive and make more efforts in improving the quality of teaching and learning.
