On July 14, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Danh Thang - Deputy Director of the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Finance said: "Regarding the case of 2 cajuput trees being cut down in the Tan An Ward Police headquarters, the unit has requested the People's Committee and the Ward Police to send a detailed report on the case".
According to Mr. Thang, according to the decentralization of the case under the authority of the Ward People's Committee, however, during the transfer period, there were many issues that the grassroots had not yet resolved strictly. Therefore, the Department has established a team to inspect the scene and requested a specific report.
"We discussed and reminded the ward police after the above incident. For the saffron wood that was cut down, the authorities will take measures to handle and auction it in accordance with the provisions of law," Mr. Thang added.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that from July 1, the headquarters of the People's Committee of Tan An Ward, located on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Buon Ma Thuot City (old), was transferred to the Tan An Ward Police (Dak Lak Province) for use and operation.
Tan An Ward Police cut down two large cajuput trees planted in 1996. These cajuput trees are nearly 30 years old, creating shade and aesthetics in the headquarters campus.
Many large blocks of won fruit trees after being cut down are being placed in the ward police headquarters.
The leader of Tan An Ward Police (Dak Lak Province) confirmed: "Immediately after receiving the headquarters, the unit started receiving citizens to handle administrative procedures. The two cajuput trees in the campus are large in size, located near the citizen reception location, and have electric wires... causing unsafety. Therefore, we had to cut down and replant two cajuput trees, move them to another location, and place them in a safer place."
"We admit that the cutting down was due to subjectivity, not asking for the opinion of the Department of Finance according to regulations because we thought we had received the handover of the headquarters, asked for the opinion of the Ward People's Committee, the Provincial Police, so we arbitrarily cut down two cajuput trees," the leader of Tan An Ward Police added.
