On the afternoon of September 4, information from the Department of Child Protection and Care - Gender Equality, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City said that on the same afternoon, the People's Committee of Trung My Tay Ward sent more than 20 women from the Front Working Committee and the Women's Union of the ward to take care of children at the Hoa Hong shelter, after an incident of child abuse occurred at this facility.
Currently, the Rose Shelter has a total of 86 children. Of these, in room 101 (there are 15 infants under one year old); room 202 (there are 37 children from one year old to about three years old); 31 children go to school outside at Soc Bong kindergarten; 3 children are in the hospital.
A representative of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City also said that this morning, the department sent a working group to this shelter to coordinate with local forces to handle the incident.
District 12 police have invited the owner of the Hoa Hong shelter and the person who beat the children to the headquarters for questioning.
The People's Committee of District 12 also proposed to take all 86 children to a public social protection facility today. Because if they are left to screen and verify their families, the children who remain at the facility will have no one to take care of them or provide them with food. Therefore, it is necessary to take the 86 children to a public social protection facility and then screen and verify their families and relatives.
