The Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City has just reported to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on the progress of implementing key projects in the transport sector.
According to the plan, in 2024, the city will complete 15 projects, 6 works and 7 construction items, marking an important step in improving traffic infrastructure and reducing congestion.
The largest project is the construction of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road at the gateway to Tan Son Nhat airport, with an investment capital of more than VND 4,800 billion. This project will start construction at the end of 2022, aiming to form a new route of more than 4km long, connecting T3 station of Tan Son Nhat airport.
The project includes a main line 29-48m wide, with 6 lanes, two branches connecting to T3 station, an overpass and two underpasses.
The underpass at the intersection of Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen opened to traffic on August 10, and the entire project is expected to be completed on December 31.
At the eastern gateway , the An Phu intersection project (Thu Duc City) with a total investment of more than 3,400 billion VND will complete 3 items including a bridge and an underpass this year.
Of which, the 82.3m long Ba Dat bridge will be completed on August 30, the 436m long Giong Ong To 2 bridge is expected to be completed on September 30 and the underpass at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection is expected to be completed on December 31.
Also in Thu Duc City, the Nam Ly Bridge, over 450m long on Do Xuan Hop Street, will open to traffic on September 15. Ong Bon Bridge, on Bung Ong Thoan Street, will open one branch on September 30, and Tang Long Bridge, 559m long on La Xuan Oai Street, will open the left branch of the bridge on December 31.
At the southern gateway , the project to build an underpass at the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection (District 7) with a total investment of 830 billion VND is expected to be completed on December 31. Of which, the HC2 tunnel branch (from District 7 to Binh Chanh) will be opened to traffic first in September.
Cay Kho Bridge crosses Ong Lon canal, connecting the two banks from Nguyen Binh street (Nha Be district) to Pham Hung street (Binh Chanh district), with a total investment of 500 billion VND, and will open to traffic on August 30.
Phuoc Long Bridge and Rach Dia Bridge, with total investment capital of nearly 400 billion VND and more than 500 billion VND respectively, will also be opened to traffic on December 31, contributing to improving traffic connection between District 7 and Nha Be District.
In addition, the project to expand National Highway 50 (Binh Chanh district) with a length of nearly 7km, total investment capital of nearly 1,500 billion VND, will open 4.3km of parallel road on December 31.
At the western gateway , Ba Hom Bridge on Provincial Road 10 with a total investment of more than 374 billion VND, will be completed and opened to traffic on November 30.
The 2km Tan Ky - Tan Quy road expansion project (from Binh Long to Ma Lo), with a total investment of VND237 billion, will also open to traffic on November 30. In addition, the Tan Ky - Tan Quy bridge with a total investment of nearly VND500 billion is expected to open to traffic on December 31.
The project to expand Ten Lua Street (from Road 29 to Provincial Road 10, Binh Tan District), with a total investment of 400 billion VND, will open to traffic on September 5.
Many road expansion projects such as Duong Quang Ham (Go Vap District), Nguyen Cuu Phu, Tran Hai Phung, Pham Thi Tanh (Binh Chanh District), Hiep Thanh 43 (District 12)... will also be put into operation this year, contributing to reducing traffic congestion at the city's gateways.
