According to initial information, the fire occurred in the early morning of April 26, at the family of Ms. Lo Thi Nguyet (Pa Don village, Le Loi commune, Lai Chau province), causing 3 young children to die tragically.
The fire was determined to have broken out from the family's kitchen area, then quickly spread throughout the stilt house and affected a classroom of a nearby elementary school.
At the time of the fire, Ms. Nguyet and her husband went to work and stayed in the construction shack, with only 3 young children in the house.
When the fire was discovered, the people of Pa Don village shouted and urgently used local items to rescue.
However, because when going to bed, the children locked the door from inside, plus the stilt house made of flammable materials, along with the electrical system short circuit, causing the fire to flaunt fiercely, the rescue approach was unsuccessful.
Immediately after receiving the news, functional forces quickly arrived, coordinated with people to control and completely extinguish the fire.
When approaching the scene inside, rescue forces discovered that all 3 young children had died.
The identities of the 3 victims were identified as: Phan Thi D (born 2012), Phan Thi T (born 2014) and Phan Van V (born 2019). All 3 are children of Ms. Nguyet and her husband.
Leaders of Le Loi Commune People's Committee said that the local government has coordinated with functional forces to conduct an examination and has completed procedures to hand over the body to the family for burial according to customs.
Currently, functional agencies are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire.
