On April 10, Military Region 2 organized an online conference to deploy the implementation of "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains".
In the period from now to July 2027, the Military Region Steering Committee strives to basically complete the search and repatriation work in key areas, the core area of Tuyen Quang province (Vi Xuyen) and Lao Cai province.
Searching and collecting about 820 sets of martyrs' remains throughout the Military Region, completing the sampling of martyrs' remains for 100% of unidentified graves in martyrs' cemeteries to serve DNA testing to identify martyrs' remains.
This ensures the correct procedures and techniques, without omitting or missing subjects, supplementing and completing the database of martyrs and martyrs' graves, and completing the conclusion work in the area, mapping search and repatriation phase 2.
In the period from August 2027 to December 2030, strive to search for and repatriate about 300 sets of martyrs' remains. Continue to review, verify, and expand the search scope in potential areas.
Promote verification, conclusions, supplement and correction of information on martyrs' graves in martyrs' cemeteries by the method of verification, closely combining records, archival documents, digitized data and DNA testing results.
Continue to take biological samples from graves with partial information or unclear information for DNA testing.
Implementing the Politburo's policy and the Government's direction, currently in Tuyen Quang province, there are 26 units organized into 170 construction teams performing the task of clearing bombs and explosives in 12 communes.
Along with the task of clearing bombs and mines, Steering Committee 515 (Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains) of Tuyen Quang province also urgently directed the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains.
From the beginning of 2026 to now, Tuyen Quang province has searched and collected 5 martyrs' graves and 1 collective grave.
