The proposal to adjust the investment policy of the Do Xuan Hop Street expansion project was submitted by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for decision at the 17th meeting of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term X, on the morning of July 15.
The project to expand Do Xuan Hop street (section from Nam Ly bridge to Nguyen Duy Trinh street) with a length of 1.8km was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in April 2016.
This road section will be expanded to 30m for 6 traffic lanes, with a total investment of 360 billion VND. Project implementation period is 2017 - 2021.
Compensation and project site clearance work was separated into a separate project with a total investment of 168 billion VND.
The project started 2 construction packages from September 15, 2018 (section from Nam Ly bridge to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway ). However, the value of the volume implemented to date is nearly 50 billion VND.
The remaining section of about 400m from Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to Nguyen Duy Trinh street has not been expanded.
The reason for the delay in the Do Xuan Hop Street expansion project is that it was previously implemented in Districts 2 and 9 (now Thu Duc City).
Project construction work has been carried out in locations with vacant premises. However, the compensation and site clearance work has not been decided by the competent authority for investment, so there is no basis for implementation.
To expand Do Xuan Hop street to 30m, the total land recovery area is more than 56,000m2, of which, residential land is more than 4,300m2 (with 49 households partially cleared); Agricultural land is more than 7,900m2 (with 29 households partially cleared), the rest is traffic land and canals.
According to a report from the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, the cost of compensation, support, resettlement, and site clearance for the project to date is more than 508 billion VND.
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposed combining two separate projects into the Do Xuan Hop street expansion project with a total investment of more than 868 billion VND.
In particular, construction costs remain the same but site clearance compensation costs are 508 billion VND (an increase of more than 340 billion VND compared to the original).
After the project is approved, the authorities will carry out compensation, support, resettlement and construction of the remaining portion to be completed by the end of 2025.
After being expanded, the route helps solve traffic jams , increasing the connection of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to seaports in Thu Duc City.
