65,573 billion VND to extend the metro line from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai and Long Thanh airport

The project to extend the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro line to Dong Nai and Long Thanh airport has a total investment of 65,573.8 billion VND, applying BT contract type.

Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has submitted a draft Resolution on investment policy for the project to extend the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro line to the Provincial Administrative Center and Long Thanh International Airport, expected to be submitted to the 3rd session (thematic) of the 11th Dong Nai Provincial People's Council on the afternoon of April 28.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the project to extend the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro line to the Provincial Administrative Center and Long Thanh International Airport has a total estimated investment of about 65,573.8 billion VND and applies BT contract type paid by land fund and state budget (public investment source).

The project passes through Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province, and the People's Councils of the two localities agreed that the People's Committee of Dong Nai province is the competent authority to implement the project.

The project to extend the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro line to the Provincial Administrative Center and Long Thanh International Airport is about 44.6 km long, including 2 sections. Section 1 from Suoi Tien station to the Provincial Administrative Center is about 7.4 km long and section 2 from the Provincial Administrative Center to Long Thanh International Airport is about 37.2 km long. The project is invested in building stations, Depots and works on the route.

Project implementation locations through wards and communes: Bien Hoa, Tran Bien, Long Hung, Phuoc Tan, Tam Phuoc, An Phuoc, Nhon Trach, Long Thanh; using about 192.5 hectares of land (excluding TOD areas); type of PPP project contract: Construction - Transfer (BT) contract, paid by land fund and state budget (revenue from auctions of expected land funds and provincial budget capital).

The compensation and site clearance of about 4,323 billion VND is implemented as an independent project using budget capital.

The investor proposing the project is Donacoop Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company.

This is a group A project, a special-class urban railway project, construction time from 2026 - 2030.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the investment in the project to extend the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro line to the Provincial Administrative Center and Long Thanh International Airport aims to synchronously develop regional connections and aviation service ecosystems; connecting the inner-city metro of Ho Chi Minh City directly with Long Thanh International Airport.

In addition, investing in projects to solve infrastructure bottlenecks, reduce the load on key roads (National Highway 1A, National Highway 51... ) that are often overloaded and congested, creates a large, stable and sustainable public transport axis.

Forming a new economic corridor connecting major centers (Bien Hoa, Long Thanh), promoting investment, trade, services and GRDP growth for the province.

Building a multimodal, modern public transport system that meets the scale of an international aviation gateway.

Creating a high-speed public transport axis connecting the administrative centers of Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.
