Need to proactively update for forest fire warning
Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Tran Manh Long - Forestry and Ranger Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) - said that the Department is applying remote sensing technology and GIS to develop the forecasting system, warning the risk of forest fires. This system offers notifications of the danger level that may occur in each local forest partition, associated with the map of the existing forest status, thereby warning the local risk of forest fires. The system is built on the basis of the main factors for forecasts of temperature, humidity and local. The Department of Forestry and Forest Protection also actively advised the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to issue documents directing the promotion of forest fire prevention and fighting.
Mr. Tran Manh Long said that, in order to effectively prevent forest fires, localities need to clear the food carpet in the forest belts - areas that are easy to catch fire, and tighten people in and out of the forest in the peak of the dry season.
"The early detection of the fire is extremely important. The localities need to proactively update information about the warning of forest fires and fire points from satellite images to check and verify, thereby promptly responding and organizing fire fighting plans if any forest fire occurs," Long emphasized.
It is necessary to promote propaganda and education of law on forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting in the community.
