On September 22, the An Giang Provincial People's Council held the 6th session (Specialized Session) to consider and decide on urgent and important contents under its authority and proceed to elect the Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Council of the XI term, term 2026 - 2031 according to the policy of competent authorities.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Council Le Hong Tham said that at the recent 5th Session, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council reported to the Provincial People's Council on the very large volume of work that needs to be further resolved in the last months of the year, and it is expected that a thematic meeting will be held each month to promptly consider and decide on contents under its authority.
Therefore, the organization of thematic sessions is not only to solve the contents arising between the two regular sessions, but is also part of the roadmap to proactively complete the resolution system of the Provincial People's Council after arrangement. Contents that are eligible and under authority must be considered and decided in a timely manner; and at the same time ensure strict legality, policy unity and feasibility in implementation.
In that spirit, at this 6th Session, the Provincial People's Council will consider and decide on resolutions at the request of the Provincial People's Committee, focusing on urgent issues related to staffing; establishing wards under the province; policies on land, ethnicity, health, population, science, technology and innovation; supporting population stabilization... Thereby, continuing to improve the legal basis, promptly meeting the requirements of management, administration and organization of socio-economic development tasks of the province," Ms. Tham emphasized.
Regarding personnel work, this is a particularly important content of the Session; the Central Government, the Provincial Party Committee and competent agencies have considered and carefully weighed, fully implemented the steps of procedures and procedures according to regulations and highly agreed to introduce them for the Provincial People's Council to elect.
At the meeting, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province - was elected to hold the position of Chairwoman of the People's Council of An Giang province, term XI, 2026-2031 with 100% of the votes of agreement of delegates attending the meeting.
