The People's Committee of Bac Kan province has just issued an urgent document requesting Ngoc Linh Company Limited (Ngoc Linh Company) to temporarily stop mining in the central area of Ba Bo lead and zinc mine, Cho Don district at the mine gates: L.1A, L.1B and L4 to ensure safety. Prepare an assessment and report on the current status of mining activities and send it to the Department of Industry and Trade before December 15.
At the same time, Hoang Nam Trading and Service Company Limited (Hoang Nam Company), Ngoc Phai Commune (Cho Don) is required to temporarily suspend the operation of Flotation Workshop 2 and stop operating the tailings storage facility No. 2 due to cracks and subsidence to ensure the safety of assets and workers.

Previously, on December 11, cracks and subsidence appeared in the Ba Bo lead and zinc mine area. In the Hoang Nam Company area, 6 cracks were discovered, each 2-3 meters apart.
The total length of the cracks is more than 84 m, 2-4 cm wide. Many sections of the stone and concrete walls are cracked. The ball mill area has begun to show signs of subsidence.
The increasing number of incidents has made local people feel insecure and worried about their lives and property.
Ba Bo lead and zinc mine was granted Mineral Exploitation License No. 1374/GP-BTNMT on May 31, 2019 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to Ngoc Linh Company.
Mining capacity is 90,000 tons/year, mining area is 10.68 ha, including 02 areas: Central area with an area of 6.91 ha and South area 1 with an area of 3.77 ha.
Ba Bo mine officially started exploitation in September 2021. Currently, the mine is operating with 04 mine doors (mine doors 01A, 01B, 2A and mine number 4).
