The stinky, polluted landfill is right near the toll station
Recently, Lao Dong Newspaper continued to receive reports from people in Tien Lang district (Hai Phong) about the spontaneous landfill near Tien Cuu Toll Station (National Highway 10) that is increasingly "bulging" without being treated. promptly, causing pollution.
"It's been raining a lot these past few days, the landfill has become even more stinky, everyone who passes by is bored. The wastewater flows into the ditch of Street 10 and is thick black. People have petitioned many times, the government has also collected and cleaned it up, but Just a few days later, it's full of trash" - Mr. Luu Van Tien (resident's name has changed, residing in Tien Cuong commune, Tien Lang district) was annoyed.
In response to people's feedback, on the afternoon of July 30, Lao Dong reporters directly recorded it at the landfill area near Tien Cuu Toll Station. Accordingly, the landfill is only about 50 meters from the toll station, located right on the side of Highway 10. Large and small yards are close together, stretching hundreds of meters along the highway, creating an unkempt scene. Not to mention, the strong stench rising from the landfill can still be clearly seen from the toll booth. The waste is mainly household waste, a small amount is industrial waste. The ditch right next to Highway 10 also has many sections that change color and trash spills onto the water surface.
Worth mentioning, in February 2023, Lao Dong Newspaper received feedback from people about the pollution situation in this area. Immediately after the report was reported, the authorities of Tien Cuong commune (Tien Lang district) ordered processing and cleaning up. At the same time, they said they will coordinate propaganda, patrol and control, and strictly handle cases of stolen waste, causing loss of aesthetics and environmental pollution.
What does the government say?
Regarding this incident, on the afternoon of July 31, talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Tran Van Ket - Chairman of Tien Cuong Commune People's Committee - said: This landfill is a spontaneous landfill that has existed for a long time. Most of the waste here comes from food and beverage businesses along Highway 10 in Dai Thang commune.
"The local government has coordinated with the Dai Thang commune government and the National Highway 10 corridor management unit to handle it. In the next few days, we will continue to collect and transport trash in this area for treatment" - Tien Cuong commune leader said.
In addition, Tien Cuong commune is also formulating a project on waste collection and treatment in the near future and propagandizing for people to agree and share with the government and functional agencies. In particular, the government will also require waste collection and treatment units to not only collect and process household waste in households but also handle public waste collection points to ensure the environment in the area. .
"The local government always accepts all feedback from the people, hoping that the people will promptly respond to quickly fix it and ensure general hygiene in the area" - Mr. Ket said.
Previously, at a meeting on the collection, transportation and treatment of waste in Tien Lang district, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung affirmed that the inadequacies in rural waste are not only in Tien Lang district. Lang but also the situation of many localities. The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested Tien Lang district to review all guiding documents and contracts signed with collection and processing units, organization and operation, and compare them with current regulations. to adjust accordingly.
