In late January 2025, at the road connecting Lang Giang bridge with provincial road 161, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the site to complete the project has been handed over to the construction unit.
Through observation, this short section of road has now been firmly compacted. After the final asphalt paving step is completed, it can be handed over and put into use.
It is known that the Lang Giang bridge project is invested by the Department of Transport - Construction of Lao Cai, with a total cost of 258 billion VND.
The construction unit is Quyet Tien Construction Investment Corporation. This bridge connects the two banks of the Red River between Xuan Tang Ward (Lao Cai City) and Thai Nien Commune (Bao Thang District), Provincial Road 161 and National Highway 70. In 2022, this bridge was officially closed and is now in use.
Although the bridge has been completed for a long time, the construction of the approach road to Lang Giang bridge, with a length of more than 1.2 km and a value of 55.6 billion VND, has not yet been completed.
The reason is that people have not agreed on compensation and resettlement, so the site has not been handed over.
Through research, the approach road is an adjusted and supplemented item of the Lang Giang bridge project.
According to the design, the section from Lang Giang bridge to the railway overpass has a 25 m wide roadbed and 15 m wide road surface; the section from behind the railway overpass to the end of the intersection with Provincial Road 161 has a 33 m wide roadbed and 15 m wide road surface; the railway overpass has 1 span 33 m long and 19 m wide.
The project is undertaken by the joint venture of Minh Duc General Construction Company Limited and Lao Cai Construction and Inspection Joint Stock Company. This connecting road item started construction on April 25, 2023 and is expected to be completed on December 25, 2023.
By January 2025, after many times of active propaganda and mobilization by the government, the remaining 3 households agreed to move their assets, trees, and crops out of the land acquisition area so that the construction unit could complete the road connecting Lang Giang Bridge with Provincial Road 161.
Mr. Ly Van Minh (residing in Muc village, Thai Nien commune, Bao Thang district) said: “We, the people, have agreed to hand over the site so that the construction unit can complete the last meters of the road. The contractor has mobilized machinery and human resources to compact the ground to proceed with the asphalt paving.”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (Xuan Tang Ward) also said: "The bridge was completed a long time ago, but only a short section of the road is still unfinished. Now that the land is available, we hope the construction unit will soon complete it and put it into use so that people can travel more conveniently."
On January 25, informing reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of the Lao Cai Province Traffic Project Management Board said: “After the government’s propaganda and mobilization, the households have handed over the land to the contractor. Currently, this short road section only has the asphalt paving stage left. We planned to finish it before Tet, but due to the rainy weather, we cannot do it right away.”
