On April 4, the sea area in Vung Tau and Rach Dua wards (HCMC) recorded abnormal water color changes, and in some places there was also a foul odor that made many tourists hesitant.
In which, from Bai Sau beach area, Vung Tau ward extending to Long Cung beach, Rach Dua ward, the water near the shore is green, clearly different from the blue color in the offshore area. Every time waves hit the shore, the water forms green patches left on the sand.

In some places with ponds, there is also a phenomenon of turning purple, accompanied by a foul odor that makes many people uncomfortable. This makes many tourists hesitant to go swimming.
According to business people in the Vung Tau sea area, this is a phenomenon that occasionally occurs during hot sunny days. At this time, seaweed develops stronger than usual, and the water heats up, causing dead algae to drift ashore.
This phenomenon usually only lasts for a few days and then ends, the water will return to normal in the coming days," said a parasol service businessman in Bai Sau.

Previously, the situation of seawater simultaneously turning "green" had appeared in this area, causing many people and tourists to panic.
After that, functional agencies took samples for testing, and concluded that the cause was due to the influence of the microalgae Noctiluca scintillans. This is a type of algae that is widely distributed, the density can change depending on the time but does not produce toxins, and does not affect people and tourists playing and swimming in the sea.
