According to the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, recently, the locality received proposals from Aron Flying Ship Co., Ltd., SMBL Co., Ltd. and Nam Viet Real Estate JSC to use the M80 seaplane to combine rescue and search at sea and transport tourists to near-shore island areas.
The M80 seaplane has a payload of 3.1 tons, a transport capacity of 1.2 tons, can carry up to 8 people (including 2 pilots), a maximum flight speed of 200km/h, and a sea speed of 54 nautical miles/h (100km/h).
Using seaplanes is more optimal than helicopters or ground aircraft in terms of take-off and landing areas, size characteristics as well as fuel capacity.
According to the provincial People's Committee, Binh Dinh has beautiful landscapes and is qualified to exploit marine tourism activities. However, currently there is no suitable means of transport to be able to explore all the natural beauty of the sea in Binh Dinh province, as well as help move between tourist destinations conveniently and quickly.
The development of seaplane operations to serve tourism is a new breakthrough direction, creating a unique highlight for the province's tourism industry. With outstanding advantages, Binh Dinh province proposes that the Ministry of Transport provide specific instructions for seaplane models allowed to be used in Vietnam and procedures for registering for a license to use the M80 seaplane model to serve the transportation of tourists in the province.
As Lao Dong reported earlier, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has sent an official dispatch to the Ministry of Transport requesting approval to build a pilot project for flying taxis operating in Binh Dinh province.
