Many unusual signs in the market, users face difficulties in choosing
Selleys RP7 is a multi-purpose rust remover and lubricant product distributed in Vietnam. This product is widely used in mechanical engineering, car and motorbike repair, industrial machinery maintenance... However, a reporter's survey shows that the source of goods and information about products on the market today have many unusual signs.
On e-commerce platforms and social networks, spray cans are advertised for sale at various prices. Contacting a store named Ngoc Liu Spare Parts... (Hanoi), reporters were quoted a price of 500,000 VND for a box of 12 cans. Customers who buy 5 or more cans will get a discount. However, when reporters asked about the invoice, the seller said that the store could not issue a VAT invoice for the product.
Notably, when continuing to contact an account specializing in RP7 advertising on social networks, the seller introduced a product called PR7 to replace it with the reason that even RP7 products are difficult to find genuine products.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc (resident in Hai Phong), a business owner of used mechanical machinery and equipment, said that he often buys RP7 at hardware stores to clean rusty parts.
According to Mr. Phuc, recently he has encountered products with unusual smells and rust treatment efficiency not as expected. This person also raised the issue of finding a product with similar uses, because it is difficult to determine which source of goods is reliable.
How to distinguish genuine goods from fake goods?
Talking to PV of Lao Dong Newspaper about this issue, Mr. Tran Minh Tien - lecturer of Automotive Technology, Dung Quat College of Technology (Quang Ngai) shared that users can observe some details on the RP7 tank to detect abnormalities.
First of all, the quality of printing. Counterfeit products are prone to spelling errors, missing accents, uneven spacing between characters or unclear fonts.
On the RP7 vase body, the blue diamond pattern has alternating dark and light patches. When changing the lighting angle, the pattern can create a clearer visual effect. Some lines of text also have a metallic effect, in which the yellow text has a copper gold color and reflects light.
The area showing improved technology has a gold-colored hexagonal pattern. This is also a detail that users can compare between the vases.
Another point lies at the bottom of the vase. According to Mr. Tien, the RP7 models he bought in 2025 have different bottom designs. Some models have flat, bright bottoms; other models have additional petal patterns. Both have QR codes. Meanwhile, fake vases usually do not print QR codes on the bottom of the vase, and details printed with the production time and expiry date can often be easily erased by hand.
Mr. Tien emphasized that the above characteristics mainly serve for comparison. Users should not base on a single sign to confirm that the product is fake. Determining the origin needs to combine information on the packaging, product code, documents and place of sale.
Another way to check is to observe the properties of the solution after spraying. Users can spray a small amount on the rusty metal surface, then monitor for a few minutes. If the results show that iron dust from the rusty part is separated, the solution has a stable gloss and stays on the surface longer, it will show good product quality. Conversely, if the product is non-genuine and counterfeited, it can evaporate the solution faster, with a strong odor or unpleasant sensation and poor rust removal ability.
