Lo Xo Pass connects the two provinces of Quang Nam and Kon Tum, and has been in use for more than 22 years. For a long time, this pass, considered the most dangerous in the Central Highlands, has been seriously degraded.
Many serious traffic accidents occurred on Lo Xo Pass, especially for passenger buses and trucks, on the 37km route.
After the Lunar New Year, the increased traffic volume has caused Lo Xo Pass to seriously deteriorate, with many concrete pieces broken. If the driver drives at high speed, the risk of tire explosion, loss of control and damage to the vehicle will be high.
Faced with these risks, the Ministry of Transport has approved a project to repair the cement concrete road surface on Lo Xo Pass, from Km1380 to Km1431 (about 5.1km), with a total cost of 57 billion VND.

Road Management Area III (Vietnam Road Administration) will continue to survey and propose to competent authorities to supplement funding for maintenance and repair of remaining damaged locations. The project will be auctioned and repaired around April 2025.
According to statistics from the Traffic Safety Committee of Kon Tum province, Lo Xo Pass through Dak Glei district has been a black spot for traffic accidents for many years.
The road often has serious traffic accidents such as overturning passenger cars, trucks falling into the abyss; vehicles losing their brakes, crashing into houses, cliffs along the road...
The reason was partly due to steep mountain passes, uneven road surfaces, heavy trucks and passenger cars carrying goods, bulky goods, and reckless overtaking, causing accidents.
