According to the latest storm and low pressure news from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), tropical storm Pilandok is expected to return to the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on September 6.
Typhoon Pilandok previously left PAR on September 3. After leaving the area, the typhoon was called internationally Krovanh. When re-entered PAR, the system will be re-named Pilandok by PAGASA.
According to PAGASA, at 4:00 PM on September 5th (Philippines time), Typhoon Krovanh was located about 810km northeast of the northernmost point of Luzon Island, in the waters near Okinawa of Japan.
The storm is moving southeast at a speed of about 25 km/h. The strongest wind near the storm center reaches 65 km/h, gusting up to 80 km/h.
PAGASA forecasts Krovanh may re-enter PAR between morning and early afternoon September 6.
The Philippine meteorological agency said that the possibility of Typhoon Krovanh making landfall in the coming days is low. This system is also not forecast to directly affect weather or sea conditions in the next 3 days.
However, the storm may continue to strengthen the southwest monsoon (Habagat), causing heavy rain to increase in the Luzon and Visayas regions in the coming days.
According to forecasts, Typhoon Krovanh is likely to maintain tropical storm intensity until September 7. After that, the system is expected to leave PAR on September 8 before weakening into a tropical depression on September 9.
PAGASA recommends that people continue to monitor weather reports, especially in areas at risk of heavy rain, flash floods and landslides due to Habagat intensification.
