On June 17, Thuan Hoa Ward People's Committee (Hue City) said that functional agencies had just received a freshwater crocodile entering a residential area voluntarily handed over by people.
Previously, at about 10:15 pm on June 16, the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department of Thuan Hoa ward coordinated with the Forest Protection Department of the Central area to receive a freshwater crocodile individual handed over by Ms. Vo Thi Thanh S (resident of Thuan Hoa ward).
According to initial information, the crocodile was discovered in Ms. S.'s garden. After discovering it, the family proactively notified and coordinated with functional agencies to handle it according to regulations.
Through inspection, the crocodile weighed about 3kg and was about 1m long. Functional forces checked its health status and completed the reception procedures according to regulations on wildlife management and protection.
Currently, the crocodile individual is temporarily managed and cared for, and functional agencies are contacting the wildlife rescue unit for handover. According to regulations, this individual will not be released back into the natural environment to ensure ecosystem safety and wildlife management.
Thuan Hoa Ward People's Committee assessed that people's proactive handover of wild animals is a positive action, contributing to improving the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation in the area.
