On June 11, Nui Cam Commune Police reported on a case related to information about a crocodile discovered on the Vinh Tre canal in Nui Cam commune (An Giang).
At 9:00 AM on June 10, 2026, Nui Cam Commune People's Committee received information about the discovery of a crocodile on Vinh Tre canal. After receiving the information, Nui Cam Commune People's Committee directed the Commune Police to coordinate with relevant departments to organize verification and work with Ms. T.T. T.N (born 1988, residing in Nui Cam commune, An Giang province) who discovered and took photos.
Through the results of verification and initial work, Ms. N provided that at about 6:40 pm on June 9, 2026, in Group 9, Tan Thanh hamlet, Nui Cam commune, a crocodile was discovered and photographed appearing on the Vinh Tre canal in Nui Cam commune, which is true.
Seeing that the incident posed a danger to people living in the Vinh Tre canal area, the People's Committee of Nui Cam commune reported to the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Forest Protection Department of Region IV for professional support for handling. At the same time, it was directed that relevant forces and sectors strengthen inspection work along canal routes in the area and announce on the commune's radio station, inform schools in the area to propagate to parents and students not to let their children swim on the river. To propagate to people who raise aquatic products on the river to be vigilant about the above incident, and at the same time to inform and contact neighboring communes to have propaganda information for people to know and be vigilant.
However, the commune police coordinated with relevant departments to verify households living in the Vinh Tre canal area, Tan Thanh hamlet, Nui Cam commune, and the households provided no information related to the crocodile appearing in the area recently.
At 8 am on June 11, 2026, L.N. T (born 2009), Ms. T.T.'s biological daughter, came to Nui Cam Commune Police to confess that the image of the crocodile appearing on Vinh Tre canal in Nui Cam commune was not true. The content of the crocodile image appearing on the canal was created by T herself through the Gemini system (AI application) to send to the family Zalo group for viewing.
Currently, the Commune Police are coordinating with relevant functional agencies to work with L.N. T to consolidate the file according to regulations.
