According to camera footage, the accident occurred at around 0:22 a.m. on January 25 on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway through Phan Hoa commune, Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan province.
At that time, the passenger bus with license plate 98E-010.73 was traveling from South to North on the innermost lane (close to the median strip). When reaching km158 + 300, the bus suddenly switched to the outermost lane. At this time, the passenger bus 78B-008.37 was traveling in the outermost lane, in the same direction, so the two buses collided.
Passenger bus 78B-008.37 continued to move forward, hit the back of car 51L-214.50 running in the same direction and crashed into the hard median before stopping. The car was thrown into the lane next to the curb.
As Lao Dong reported, the accident caused a long traffic jam due to the accident scene in the middle of the road, the passenger bus blocked the North-South section of the road after the collision. Traffic through this area took more than 4 hours to resolve the accident and the queue of vehicles, after which the vehicles were able to flow smoothly again.
