In Tuyen Quang, although not directly affected by storm No. 3 Yagi, this is the province that suffered heavy damage from the storm's circulation. Never before has Na Hang Hydropower Reservoir had to open all 8 bottom spillway gates due to the large water flow into the reservoir. Monitoring the weather and receiving notices from local authorities, Tuyen Quang Telecommunications Group - Thai Nguyen Telecommunications Station, MobiFone Northern Network Center assessed that there was a high possibility that a large-scale flood would occur in the area, severely affecting the network.
In just a short time, upstream districts such as Na Hang, Chiem Hoa, Ham Yen were isolated. The entire Tuyen Quang city was submerged in water after just one night. Therefore, all the brothers of Tuyen Quang Telecommunications Group had to race against the flood to ensure the safety of equipment and network. The flood came, causing power outage in almost the entire Tuyen Quang city, but thanks to careful preparation, the level 2 sites and CSG sites were still safe.
At 10:00 p.m. on September 10, upon receiving news that the water was rising rapidly and the station was at risk of being flooded, Lai Duy Khanh and Tran Duc Khoi - Technical Officer of MobiFone Tuyen Quang Telecommunications Team immediately set out to help. Realizing that the station area was quite deeply flooded, the two men prepared a small boat and protective equipment to ensure safety.
The distance from Mr. Khanh's house to the station is about 1km, but due to the deep flood, it took them nearly 2 hours to reach the station. After reaching the station, they quickly removed the existing equipment at the station to move it to higher locations to ensure safety, and brought some damaged equipment back for repair. At this time, it was almost 1am, the water was more than 2 meters deep, even 3-4 meters deep in some places.
On the way back, due to the extra equipment and encountering a strong current, the small boat capsized, and all of the two men's protective gear, helmets, and phones were swept away by the current. However, with courage and determination, the two men recovered all of their network equipment.
After going a little further, Mr. Khanh and Mr. Khoi met a local who was stranded in the flood. Although they were exhausted from having their boat capsized earlier, facing the urgent situation, the two men disregarded the danger and risked their lives to row the boat out to save the people. Having been familiar with the river since childhood, Mr. Khanh and Mr. Khoi calmly steered the boat to bring the people to safety and safely returned home at 3am. Not only did they complete their task of ensuring the safety of the station and finding all the protective gear, hats, phones, etc. after the boat capsized, they also bravely and successfully rescued the people in the middle of the night.
The story of Mr. Khanh and Mr. Khoi is just a small story among many touching stories about the spirit of MobiFone staff during the days of responding to storms and floods. Each person has their own story to honor. Mr. Nong Van Quan has not returned home for 5 days, Mr. Vu Tien Dat and Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung were so busy with rescue that they forgot to eat and sleep... Many MobiFone staff went directly to remote areas to rescue information, serve customers, and encourage people to overcome the consequences of the storm.
You, as well as many other MobiFone officers and employees, represent the spirit of MobiFone at this moment: Enthusiasm - Speed - Responsibility - Courage. MobiFone quickly responded to information, determined to restore the network, and overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi as soon as possible to serve customers. Along with that, the network is always ready to accompany customers, and join hands with people across the country to overcome difficult times in life.
