On August 14, Can Tho City Police said that on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the unit held a meeting to consider reducing, exempting, and shortening the time for serving criminal sentences in the community.

At the meeting, professional units and police of communes and wards reported and reviewed the records of each case based on the process of law compliance, performance of duties, training attitude and contribution to the community. As a result, many individuals who are eligible are considered for a reduction, shortening the probation period, and soon returning to normal life.
After listening to reports on the implementation of the units, Colonel Tran Hoang Do - Deputy Director of the City Police, Chairman of the Council for considering and proposing to reduce, exempt, and shorten the time for serving criminal sentences in the community, suggested that the Council members continue to uphold their sense of responsibility, carefully review the subjects, standards, and records of the amnesty request to ensure seriousness, compliance with regulations, and absolutely not to let any errors or negativity occur.

The activities of reviewing and proposing to reduce, exempt, and shorten the time for serving criminal sentences in the community demonstrate the leniency and humanity policies of our Party and State; at the same time, encouraging those serving sentences to continue to strive and correct their mistakes.

This is also one of the important solutions in the work of enforcing criminal judgments in the community, contributing to strengthening the "people's heart position", maintaining security and order in the locality.
The meeting activities proposed to reduce, exempt, and shorten the time for serving criminal sentences in the community in addition to helping those who have made mistakes have the opportunity to rebuild their lives, while also spreading the message of trust and companionship of the police force and the whole society in the process of reintegration into the community.
