On June 1st, Can Tho City Police organized a launching ceremony for a peak period of attacking and suppressing drug crimes to implement the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control in 2026.
The peak period is implemented from June 1-30 to strictly implement the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the City Party Committee, and the City People's Committee on drug prevention and control; mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system and the entire people to participate in prevention and combat, gradually curbing and reducing crime and drug evils, contributing to building a safe and healthy area, towards the goal of building a city without drugs.
During the peak period, the City Police focused on synchronously deploying professional measures; strengthening the fight and dismantling of drug crime lines and organizations; points of organization and harboring of illegal drug use; subjects of illegal drug trafficking.
At the same time, promote the work of reviewing and managing addicts, illegal drug users, people after detoxification, and propaganda and legal education on drug prevention and control among the people.
Colonel Bui Duc An - Deputy Director of Can Tho City Police said that the police of units and localities should uphold the spirit of responsibility, proactively grasp the situation, focus forces and means, and drastically implement solutions to fight and prevent drugs; promote the role of leaders.
The Deputy Director of the City Police emphasized that although drug prevention and control work in the past time has achieved many positive results, dismantling many drug trafficking rings and subjects, the situation of crime and drug evils still contains many complex factors, especially the appearance of synthetic drugs, new psychotropic substances and the abuse of cyberspace for criminal activities.
To make the peak period effective, the Deputy Director of the City Police emphasized that the Police of units and localities continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the guidelines, policies, and laws on drug prevention and control; proactively grasp the situation, focus on drastically fighting against drug lines, groups and complex points; improve the effectiveness of management of illegal drug users, addicts and post-detoxification people.
Promote propaganda work, launch a movement for the whole people to participate in drug prevention and control; strengthen inspection and supervision, and tighten the responsibility of heads in organizing the implementation of assigned tasks.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the Police of units and localities simultaneously deployed key tasks and solutions according to the plan, determined to complete the set targets, creating a vibrant emulation atmosphere, and achieving practical achievements in the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control in 2026.
