Can Tho finds the remains of Martyr Nguyen Thi Ut after more than half a century

Can Tho - From information provided by a former guerrilla and wounded soldier, the city's military forces coordinated to find the remains of female martyr Nguyen Thi Ut.

On July 21, the Military Command of Can Tho City said that the unit had just coordinated with Team K90 (Military Region 9) to find the remains of Martyr Nguyen Thi Ut in Truong Tho hamlet, Truong Long Tay commune, after many days of organizing surveys and excavations.

Previously, the unit received information forms about the burial place of martyrs in the war and confirmation papers from Mr. Tran Van Quan (born in 1950, Tan Hoa commune, Can Tho city). In 1969, Mr. Quan was Deputy Head of the Tan Hoa Commune Guerrilla Team (including 8 females and 1 male), directly participating in activities in the area during the war, and is currently a wounded soldier.

According to the content provided by the District, at about 8 am on a day in August 1969 (date not remembered), enemy aircraft deployed troops to raid at Chet Tho hamlet, Truong Long Tay commune. About 5 aircraft circled and shot at huts in the field area.

At that time, there were 3 people in a hut. The enemy's raid killed 1 person, Nguyen Thi Ut. According to witnesses, soldier Nguyen Thi Ut (born in 1950) was a guerrilla in Tan Hoa commune, commonly known as Ut Mom, operating in Truong Long Tay commune.

After the sacrifice, Mr. Muoi Ke, an official in the hamlet at that time, brought Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ut's body to temporarily bury in the area of Mr. Nam Nhung's land, Bo Xoai canal, belonging to Truong Tho hamlet, Truong Long Tay commune. Some witnesses and local people (8 people) also confirmed that they had known about the burial of soldiers who died in this area.

Records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at noon on July 21 showed that the search work has been completed. On the morning of July 22, the next plans will continue to be deployed.
