Warning of heavy rain causing flash floods and landslides in Lao Cai

Lao Cai - In the past 24 hours, many areas have recorded heavy rain, with the risk of flash floods and landslides.

The Lao Cai Provincial Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that from now until the end of July 13, thunderstorms will continue, with some places having very heavy rain; there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, affecting traffic, life and infrastructure.

From 7:00 p.m. on July 11 to 9:00 a.m. on July 12, areas in Lao Cai province will have scattered showers and thunderstorms; some places will have heavy rain, such as: Ngu Chi Son 69.8 mm, Bat Xat 65.2 mm, Muong Hum 63.4 mm, Ban Xeo 63.2 mm.

From July 12 to 13, there will continue to be showers and thunderstorms, locally moderate rain, heavy rain (rainfall of 10 - 30 mm, some places over 60 mm); thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. From July 14, thunderstorms will gradually decrease, with rainfall below 10 mm.

Some places at high risk of landslides such as: Bac Ha, Ban Ho, Bao Nhai, Coc Lau, Hop Thanh, Nghia Do, Ngu Chi Son, Cam Duong, Sa Pa, Ta Phin, Ta Van, Xuan Quang...

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, hail: Level 1.
