A warning from the Da Nang Civil Defense Board said that in the coming time, the sea area will experience strong winds, big waves and thunderstorms, posing risks to seafood exploitation and sea transport activities.
According to forecasts, the sea area from Da Nang city to Khanh Hoa will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some places are likely to experience moderate rain accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. This situation may affect agricultural production activities, causing trees to fall, damage to houses and infrastructure.
In the Northern East Sea area, including the Hoang Sa special zone, strong Northeast winds are active. Wind is commonly level 6, in some places level 7, gusts level 8 to level 9. Strong sea waves, waves from 3 to 5 meters high. The central East Sea area also recorded Northeast wind level 5, sometimes level 6, gusts level 7 to level 8, waves from 2 to 4 meters high.
In the western sea area of the South China Sea, including the western Truong Sa special zone, Northeast wind is strong at level 6, sometimes reaching level 7, gusting at level 8 to level 9. High waves are commonly from 2 to 4 meters high, causing strong sea turbulence. The level of natural disaster risk at sea is determined to be level 2.
In these weather conditions, all ships operating in the above-mentioned areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and large waves. Functional agencies recommend fishermen, ship owners and maritime transport units to regularly monitor weather forecast information, proactively adjust exploitation plans, and ensure safety for people and vehicles.
There have been many consecutive fishing boat incidents at sea. Two fishing boats of Quang Ngai fishermen, including boat QNg 95157 TS and boat QNg 90459 TS, broke down while operating at sea with a total of 70 workers. Rescue forces have deployed support measures and mobilized specialized ships ready to respond.
Another incident occurred in the Nhat Le estuary area when fishing boat QB. 11064-TS was on its way to shore when it was overturned by large waves. Four crew members were rescued in time by a nearby fishing boat. Nhat Le Border Guard Station forces then deployed vehicles to approach the scene, bring the captain ashore safely and coordinate with fishermen to fix the distressed boat.
