On the morning of July 29, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Diem, residing in Que Son Trung commune, Da Nang, was still in shock when recalling the fire that occurred a day earlier.
At the time the fire broke out, the 3 mothers and children were sleeping in a house combined with business. Smoke and fire covered the front area, the iron door was locked, making it impossible for them to escape through the main door.
In a dangerous situation, the 3 mothers and children ran to the back of the house, escaping through the second escape route. People around quickly called 114 to request support.
The fire occurred at about 1:50 am on July 28 at the mother and baby goods store Nam Shop, located in group 2, Phuoc Duc village, Que Son Trung commune, Da Nang city.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Team of Area 11 dispatched two fire trucks and 12 officers and soldiers quickly and urgently to the scene.
At this time, the fire was burning fiercely in the area containing diapers, milk and children's supplies, generating a large amount of smoke and toxic gas. The iron door in front was still locked, hindering access.
Firefighters used bolt cutters to break the door, and at the same time removed part of the corrugated iron roof on the side to escape smoke and reduce heat. Two water fountains were deployed directly into the center of the fire, preventing the fire from spreading to the remaining areas.
A tanker truck and three officers and soldiers were also mobilized to support, ensuring continuous fire fighting water supply.
By 2:17 am, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished.
The fire did not cause any casualties. The burned area is about 20m2, mainly goods serving children. The fire did not spread to the entire house and surrounding works.
After the incident, Ms. D.'s family sent a letter of thanks to the Fire and Rescue Police force of Da Nang City Police for promptly controlling the fire, protecting the lives of 3 mothers and children and limiting property damage.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage are being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
