On August 7, Lang Son Provincial People's Committee said it had agreed with Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee on the plan and plan to implement the Lang Son - Thai Nguyen expressway project.
According to the plan, the starting point of the route connects to the CT10 intersection on the Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway, in Lang Son province; the ending point connects to the CT07 route in Thai Nguyen.
The project connection location between the two provinces is located in the border area of Nhat Hoa commune, Lang Son province and Dan Tien commune, Thai Nguyen province.
The expressway is about 120 km long, designed with 4 lanes, with a total estimated investment of 29,000 billion VND.
The two localities agreed to report to competent authorities to assign the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province to be the competent agency to implement the project according to the public-private partnership (PPP) method.
The central budget is proposed to support about 20,720 billion VND, equivalent to about 70% of the total investment.
The remaining capital will be mobilized according to the financial plan of the PPP project after being considered by competent authorities.
Regarding compensation, support, resettlement and site clearance, the route section belonging to the administrative boundaries of which province will be proactively implemented by that locality.
Lang Son and Thai Nguyen will coordinate to determine the scope, boundaries and progress in the adjacent area, ensuring synchronous handover of land.
The project is expected to deploy procedures in 2026 and be completed before 2030. Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee will continue to complete the dossier and report to the Government and central ministries and branches.
The Lang Son - Thai Nguyen expressway is one of the strategic transport projects agreed upon and implemented by three provinces Lang Son, Cao Bang and Thai Nguyen.
The route will connect with the Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway, Bac Kan - Cao Bang along with the national highway, provincial road, border gate and industrial park system.
When completed, the project is expected to form the inter-regional traffic axis Lang Son - Cao Bang - Thai Nguyen - the Capital region, shortening the transportation time of goods and expanding the development space for northern localities.
