On Sunday afternoon, the flow of vehicles pouring into Ho Chi Minh City increased sharply, causing the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to fall into serious congestion. The flow of vehicles stretched for kilometers from the National Highway 51 toll station to An Phu intersection, while the direction out of the city was clear.
Recorded in reality on the afternoon of June 28, local traffic jams began to appear and quickly turned into prolonged congestion on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway. Thousands of private cars, passenger cars, and trucks lined up on the lanes. Vehicles could only move meter by meter through the former National Highway 51 toll station (Dong Nai) to head towards An Phu intersection (Ho Chi Minh City).

In stark contrast to traffic jams in the city direction, the opposite lane from An Phu intersection to Long Thanh - Dau Giay is clear. Vehicles travel conveniently and easily.
The main reason for this one-way local congestion is that a large number of people from neighboring areas such as Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Lam Dong... simultaneously drive vehicles back to Ho Chi Minh City after the summer weekend holiday. The influx of vehicles at the same time has caused the highway to become overloaded.

Directly experiencing prolonged traffic jams, Mr. Le Chuong, a driver who was on his way to take his family from Da Lat back to Ho Chi Minh City, tiredly said that his car had to move little by little throughout the long journey. According to Mr. Chuong, his family proactively departed from Da Lat from 9 am with the plan to arrive at about 3 pm to avoid the peak hour. However, due to the large number of vehicles pouring into the highway and the tight traffic jam, his family's journey was delayed by more than 3 hours compared to the plan, and it was not until after 6 pm that they could get home.
In order to relieve the pressure of large vehicles pouring into the city, the Traffic Police force quickly arrived at the scene. Officers and soldiers had to be on duty at important intersections, continuously regulating and diverting traffic to quickly reduce congestion, helping people travel across the highway safely on the weekend.
