On June 17, Dong Nai City People's Committee just sent a document to the Ministry of Construction regarding comments on the pre-feasibility study report of the Project to Expand the North-South Expressway sections in the East.
The road network plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 has been approved by the Prime Minister, in Dong Nai city there are 3 routes belonging to the North-South Expressway Project in the East, including: Phan Thiet - Dau Giay planned with a scale of 6 lanes; Dau Giay - Long Thanh planned with a scale of 10 lanes and Long Thanh - Ben Luc expressway planned with a scale of 8 lanes.
However, according to the pre-feasibility study report dossier, the Project to Invest in Expanding the North - South Expressway Sections in the East only proposes to expand the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, and the 2 expressway routes Dau Giay - Long Thanh and Long Thanh - Ben Luc have not been studied for expansion.
Therefore, Dong Nai city proposes that the Ministry of Construction consider adding the expansion of the above 2 expressways to the pre-feasibility study report dossier to ensure synchronization of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, Dau Giay - Long Thanh, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Long Thanh - Ben Luc expressway sections with a scale of 6 lanes throughout the route section passing through Dong Nai city.
Dong Nai City People's Committee assessed that the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, Dau Giay - Long Thanh, Long Thanh - Ben Luc expressways play an important role in connecting the Southeast region with the South Central and Southwest regions. At the same time, these are also 3 expressways serving the connection of Long Thanh airport.
The current status of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, Dau Giay - Long Thanh expressway has been invested in phase 1 with a scale of 4 lanes, especially the Long Thanh - Ben Luc expressway is being invested in construction with a scale of 4 lanes.
Although newly put into operation, due to the increased traffic volume on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, Dau Giay - Long Thanh expressway, congestion on the route often occurs on weekends, holidays, Tet, especially at intersections and road toll station locations.
Therefore, early investment in expanding the 3 North-South expressways in the East is very necessary. Especially when the Long Thanh airport project is put into commercial operation at the end of 2026, the traffic volume on the 3 expressways above will increase sharply.
The investment in expanding 3 expressways will create favorable conditions for the socio-economic development of Dong Nai city.
Regarding the investment method, according to the dossier sent for comments, the project is expected to be implemented in the form of public investment. Dong Nai City People's Committee agreed to study this investment method for projects that are regional connectivity, require high progress and play an important role in the development of transport infrastructure.
