Previously, from May 6, the Km 3+4 Hai Yen pontoon bridge (in Hai Yen ward, Mong Cai city) temporarily stopped operating for vehicles with a total load of over 30 tons.
Vehicles under 30 tons are allowed to travel in one direction, serving technical inspection and repair to ensure traffic safety and operational capacity in the upcoming storm season.
Maintenance work was urgently and seriously implemented with close coordination between functional units and was completed on schedule.
The operation of the pontoon bridge will help restore an important cargo route between Vietnam and China, facilitating import-export activities of businesses of both sides.
The Km 3+4 Hai Yen pontoon bridge is the main cargo transit point in the Mong Cai area, directly connecting to the Dongxing Border Control Area (China).
From the beginning of the year to the end of April 30, 2025, this customs clearance has recorded 10,666 vehicles, transporting 253,446 tons of import-export goods, an increase of 95% over the same period in 2024.
The main goods include fruits, cassava flour, frozen seafood, dried nuts, shrimp, crab, raw fish and various types of tapties.
On the morning of May 19, many trucks carrying goods lined up to cross the pontoon bridge, recording an urgent and vibrant atmosphere at the border gate area.
Representatives of import-export enterprises expressed their excitement when customs clearance activities were restored, contributing to maintaining the supply chain and reducing warehouse costs.
