On the afternoon of June 29, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Viet Quang - Chairman of Quy Nhon Dong Ward People's Committee (Gia Lai) - said that functional forces had controlled and completely extinguished the fire that occurred in the boat anchorage area on Thi Nai lagoon.

According to initial information, at about 12 pm on the same day, a fishing boat anchored suddenly caught fire fiercely. In just a short time, the fire spread to many boats anchored adjacently, creating a column of black smoke rising high, covering the entire area.
Immediately after receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Police force mobilized officers, soldiers and specialized vehicles to the scene, urgently deploying measures to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading.

According to Mr. Quang, initially it was determined that 10 fishing boats were burned down, and 2 other fishing boats were partially burned and then sank. Specific damage is being continuously counted and statistically analyzed by functional agencies.
The area where the fire occurred is adjacent to Quy Nhon Dong ward and Tuy Phuoc Dong commune, which has long been a place to anchor boats of fishermen in Cat Tien commune," Mr. Quang said.

Currently, the cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
