Gia Lai - Boats and ships anchored in the Nhon Hoi area suddenly caught fire in the middle of the day, a column of black smoke rising high covered the entire area.

On June 29, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Viet Quang - Chairman of Quy Nhon Dong Ward People's Committee (Gia Lai) - said that functional forces are still urgently handling a large fire that occurred in the boat anchorage area in the Nhon Hoi area.

According to initial information, at about 12:00 PM on the same day, a ship anchored suddenly caught fire fiercely. The fire quickly spread to boats anchored next to it, and a column of black smoke rose high, covering the entire area.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Police force quickly mobilized forces and vehicles to the scene to deploy firefighting operations.

By about 2 pm, the fire was basically under control. However, because some boats were still smoldering, functional forces could not approach the scene to statistically determine the damage.

Functional forces promptly separated the boats anchored around from the fire area to prevent the fire from spreading, and at the same time continued to handle the remaining fire points," Mr. Quang informed.

According to Mr. Quang, up to now, it is still impossible to accurately determine the number of damaged ships. The cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
