On the morning of January 9, the forest fire that occurred in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city has not been completely controlled as of now (10pm).
Authorities are actively coordinating to fight the fire and create a runway to prevent the fire from spreading.
According to initial information, the fire broke out at 10:15 a.m. at Group 1, Zone 4, Bai Chay Ward. Immediately after receiving the news, functional forces including Fire Prevention and Rescue Police (Provincial Police), Ha Long City Police, forest rangers, military and local forces quickly arrived at the scene to put out the fire.
Because the fire was not at risk of spreading to residential areas, the fire fighting force focused on containing and initially extinguishing it.
However, in the evening of the same day, due to strong winds and dry weather, the fire broke out again, spreading to the hill area in Zone 7, Bai Chay Ward. The burned area was about 1 hectare and was still not completely controlled.
Authorities are still trying to control the fire. In some areas, the fire has subsided but there are still small fire spots.
Firefighting and fire-fighting work is being urgently deployed.
Notably, this area experienced many consecutive forest fires from December 17-19, 2024.
