Information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Hanoi City Police said that on just two days, November 11 and 12-3, the working group of the Traffic Police Team No. 4 - Traffic Police Department discovered driver B.V.B (born in 1983, from Ha Nam) driving a car with license plate 30E-853.xx. Notably, the number 6 on the license plate was blocked when the car parked under the cooling camera in front of the gate of Bach Mai Hospital.
Previously, on March 2, Traffic Police Team No. 4 also discovered a taxi driver with license plate 30F-438.xx using a tape to change the letter "F" to "E". It is worth mentioning that more than a month ago, this driver was punished for the same violation. Most of the violators said that due to difficult economic circumstances, they had deliberately covered and repaired their license plates to avoid fines to pick up customers in front of Bach Mai Hospital gate.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hung, an officer of Traffic Police Team No. 4, said that many drivers deliberately use card leaves, leaves, paper, mud, cement, tape... or damage part of their license plates to avoid being fined. When discovered, they often give unknown reasons or think that the license plate is accidentally dirty.
"If there is enough basis, the Traffic Police will resolutely draw up a record of sanctions and apply additional handling levels for other violations, such as stopping, parking at places with prohibited signs or picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations. The total fine can be up to more than 20 million VND, Lieutenant Colonel Hung emphasized.
According to the provisions of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of road traffic, the act of covering a car's license plate will be fined from 20 to 26 million VND. At the same time, violators will have 6 points deducted from their driving licenses. Compared to the previous fine stipulated in Decree 100/2019/ND-CP (from 800,000 VND to 1 million VND), the current fine has increased 25 times.
