On October 29, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province decided to discipline a series of forest rangers involved in the case of "Violating regulations on management and use of State assets causing loss and waste; Illegal possession of military weapons; Receiving bribes and giving bribes" occurring at the Vinh Thanh Protective Forest Management Board (BQLRPH), Vinh Thanh Production and Trading Joint Stock Company and related units in Gia Lai province.
Accordingly, Mr. Le Duc Sau - Head of the Gia Lai Provincial Forest Protection Department; Tran Phuoc Phi - Director of Vinh Thanh Forest Protection Department; Dang Ba Quang - Head of Vinh Thanh Forest Protection Department; Dinh Gia Binh - Head of the Forest Protection Station under Vinh Thanh Forest Protection Department; Phan Thanh Kha - Deputy Forest Protection Department member of Vinh Thanh Forest Protection Department - was disciplined by being forced to resign.
Mr. Le Duc Sau was also previously disciplined by the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee in the form of party membership.
As Lao Dong reported, on August 17, the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security issued decisions to prosecute the accused, applying temporary detention measures against Mr. Tran Phuoc Phi; Le Duc Sau; Dang Ba Quang; Dinh Giang Binh; Phan Thanh Kha.
In which, Mr. Phi, Quang, Binh, and Kha were prosecuted for the crime of "Violating regulations on management and use of State assets causing loss, waste, and Receiving bribes". Mr. Sau was prosecuted for the crime of "Violating regulations on management and use of State assets causing loss and waste".
The defendants are said to be involved in violations in the auction of exploitation of more than 25 hectares of forest to build the Vinh Son 4 hydropower project (Vinh Kim commune, Vinh Thanh district, old Binh Dinh).
