Prepare sufficient funding when pensions and social insurance allowances increase
Vietnam Social Security (BHXH) said: From July 1, 2026, the Government will implement an adjustment to increase 8% of pensions, social insurance allowances and monthly allowances for subjects who are receiving them before July 1, 2026 according to the provisions of Decree No. 162/2026/ND-CP and the guidance of Circular No. 14/2026/TT-BNV.
Notably, in addition to the general adjustment of 8%, the Government continues to have support policies for people with low benefit levels to narrow the gap in benefit levels between target groups.
Accordingly, people with pensions, social insurance allowances or monthly allowances after increasing by 8% but still equal to or lower than 3.5 million VND/month will be adjusted to increase by another 300,000 VND/month. In case after adjusting by 8%, the benefit level is over 3.5 million VND but below 3.8 million VND/month, it will be increased to 3.8 million VND/month.
In the coming time, Vietnam Social Security will continue to direct social security agencies in provinces and cities to proactively review data, update benefit levels, prepare sufficient funding sources and closely coordinate with relevant agencies and units in organizing implementation.
The work of resolving and paying social insurance benefits is strictly controlled, ensuring the right beneficiaries, the right level of benefits, fully, promptly, safely and in accordance with regulations; at the same time, strengthening guidance, support, and timely handling of arising difficulties and obstacles, thereby ensuring full rights of participants and beneficiaries of social insurance and health insurance policies.
Continue to pay cash to people
According to Vietnam Social Security, in the July 2026 payment period, 3.55 million people were paid pensions and social insurance allowances according to the new benefit level. The payment of pensions and social insurance allowances through accounts has been completed.
The pension and social insurance allowance payment period in July 2026 has been paid through accounts in two installments.
According to the payment organization plan, money transfers through personal accounts are carried out in two phases in 34 provinces and cities, to ensure the process of data comparison and transaction processing is safe and smooth.
Phase 1, July 1, 2026, was implemented in 23 localities including: Son La, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Hue, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Ca Mau, An Giang, Thai Nguyen and Hai Phong.
Phase 2, July 2, 2026, was deployed in 11 localities including: Hanoi, Lai Chau, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Lao Cai, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Dong Thap.
For cash recipients, the payment time is decided by each locality after completing the money transfer through the account.
The specific payment schedule is notified to beneficiaries by the local Social Insurance agency in coordination with the payment support organization, in accordance with the actual conditions of each area.
According to regulations, the forms of pension and social insurance allowance payment are specifically scheduled as follows:
Payment via personal account
Organize monthly pension and social insurance allowance payments through personal accounts at regional social insurance. No later than the 5th of every month, the Department of Planning and Finance transfers money to the beneficiary's personal account.
Payment at the fixed payment point
From Thursday, July 2, 2026 to Friday, July 10, 2026, organize payment for at least 6 hours/day at all payment points;
Only terminate payments before the 10th for points that have paid off the entire number of beneficiaries according to the list transferred by the social insurance agency.
Payment at the transaction point of the Payment Service Organization
From the 11th of the month, pension payments will continue at payment points that are transaction points of payment service organizations until the end of the 25th of the month.
Note that in case the payment date coincides with Saturday, Sunday, or Tet holiday, the payment date is the next working day.
