North Korea handles senior military official for corruption

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un condemned the corruption of a senior military official as a "political crime".

North Korean state news agency KCNA said on July 11 that this was a statement by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at a joint meeting of the Workers' Party of Korea and the military in Pyongyang on July 10, according to AFP.

In the meeting, the corruption of Pak Hui Chol - former Deputy Director in charge of organizational issues of the General Department of Politics of the People's Army and subordinates.

According to KCNA, Pak Hui Chol received "a large amount of bribes" and lived a "depraved life". The North Korean state news agency also added that Pak Hui Chol was dismissed from his leadership and the case was transferred to the investigating agency.

This is a political crime contrary to the Party's policy of building discipline and is an act of embezzlement and deliberate deprivation against the interests of the state and the people" - Mr. Kim Jong Un emphasized.
