On the afternoon of May 21, the People's Council (HĐND) of An Giang province held the 2nd session (specialized session) to approve many important draft resolutions.
At the program, delegates voted to approve the draft resolution Deciding on the policy of converting forest use purposes to other purposes to implement the Duong Dong 2 Lake Investment Project - component project for construction investment.
Specifically, the area approved for policy of changing forest use purposes to other purposes is 2.44 ha, special-use forest type, located in sub-zone 73 of Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province.
According to An Giang Provincial People's Committee, the Duong Dong 2 Lake Investment Project - Component project for construction investment has a total land use area of about 96.5 ha. The land area originating from forest planning is 2.44 ha.
The project investor is the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works of An Giang province.
The conversion of forest use purposes to implement the Duong Dong 2 Reservoir Investment Project - a component project for construction investment to promptly complete the project to serve the APEC 2027 Summit Week, ensuring the progress, quality, overall efficiency of the construction project and associated with the sustainable development of the locality and the country.
According to the land allocation and zoning plan of Kien Giang Provincial Planning (before merger) for the period 2021 - 2030, vision to 2050, the 2.44 ha area for project implementation is not planned for forestry purposes.
Thus, the proposed location decides on the policy of converting forest use purposes to other purposes to implement the project in accordance with the principle of converting forest use purposes to other purposes.
