On May 17, An Giang province and Sun Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate in investing in 11 key infrastructure projects. The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the Conference announcing the planning and investment promotion of An Giang province in 2026.
11 transport and tourism infrastructure projects with a total investment of nearly 100,000 billion VND will be implemented synchronously in Phu Quoc, including: roads, seaports, and airports.

Regarding road and railway transport infrastructure: The eastern coastal landscape axis (east coastal road of the island) is about 44.7 km long with a total estimated investment of 14,100 billion VND, opening up new development space for the urban and tourism chain.
Along with that is the East-West Phu Quoc Island Avenue project, with a total investment of about 6,780 billion VND, 10 lanes wide, playing the role of a vital traffic axis connecting across the island, capable of operating like a reserve field runway in emergency situations.
At the same time, the project to upgrade and expand DT 975B road section Cua Lap - Cua Can, about 18 km long, with a total investment of about 8,200 billion VND; the project to upgrade and expand DT 973 road section An Thoi - Bai Thom, about 39.3 km long with a total investment of 11,400 billion VND will remove all barriers connecting North - South islands.
The public transport network will be completed with 2 urban tram lines on provincial roads DT 973 and DT 975B. The urban tram line project on provincial road DT 973 (from An Thoi - Bai Thom) in BOT form with a length of about 39.30 km, total investment of 20,000 billion VND; The urban tram line project section 2 in Phu Quoc special zone (on DT 975B road from Cua Lap - Cua Can) in BOT form, length of about 18.02 km, total capital of 10,500 billion VND.
Combined with the LRT route being deployed to serve APEC, this Tramway system will create a modern, green and smart transportation network throughout the special zone.

Regarding maritime and aviation infrastructure, Sun Group is studying to invest in the An Thoi International Port and Phu Quoc Special Zone port logistics and tourism mixed urban area project with a scale of 40 hectares, total investment of 17,000 billion VND, synchronously with the An Thoi seaport connecting coastal road project. In addition, the Rach Gia Airport upgrade project (7,500 billion VND) will be an important "door" connecting Phu Quoc with major economic centers in the region.
Regarding tourism, to complete the experience in Nam Dao, Sun Group and An Giang province will study the project of Nui Ong Quan Park, cultural square and parking lot.
Sun Group also officially received the decision approving the investment policy of cable car line No. 2 project under the Hon Thom cable car and sea entertainment complex project, with a total investment of 4,371 billion VND. With a length of about 6 km, designed capacity of up to 7,050 passengers/hour, the cable car line has the ability to serve about 25,000-28,000 people/day, connecting from An Thoi station to Hon Thom island, experiencing Hon Thom entertainment and resort complex with full entertainment, resort, marina, seaplane items. The project contributes to realizing the development orientation of Hon Thom into a high-quality international-standard tourism service center, gradually making Phu Quoc special zone a breakthrough growth pole.
Currently, Sun Group is urgently implementing many infrastructure and strategic tourism projects in Phu Quoc to serve APEC 2027, expanding the long-term development space for the special zone. Including the project to expand provincial road DT. 975; urban light rail (LRT) connecting from Phu Quoc International Airport to APEC Conference and Exhibition Center; expanded Phu Quoc airport, APEC Avenue, and many large-scale tourism and resort complexes in the South of the island... All are being urgently built to serve the large-scale political, diplomatic, and economic event taking place next year.

In the next phase, when 11 new infrastructure and tourism projects that An Giang province and Sun Group signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation are put into operation, Phu Quoc will be the first special zone in the country with a synchronous and international standard transportation and tourism infrastructure network. From there, repositioning Phu Quoc's role on the world economic map.
