The Ho Chi Minh City - Dien Bien route is operated by Vietnam Airlines with Airbus A321 aircraft with a frequency of 2 flights per week, flight time is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. From Dien Bien, passengers can connect to Hanoi through flights that are being operated daily.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines said that on the occasion of the opening of the new route, the airline will launch preferential ticket prices from only 1.099 million VND/trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Dien Bien (including taxes and fees).
The ticket issuance period is from now until December 31. The effective date is from December 24-31 and the journey will be completed by December 31, 2025.
The representative of Vietnam Airlines added that the operation of this route marks one of the domestic routes with the longest distance and flight time in the airline's operating network, thereby opening up more air travel options for passengers to the Northwest region.
According to Mr. Le Van Luong - Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, the opening of the direct flight route is an event of special significance. Contributing to creating the most favorable conditions to connect Dien Bien province with Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Luong also suggested that Vietnam Airlines continue to maintain and research to increase flight frequency with existing routes, opening more routes connecting Dien Bien with other provinces in the country and some countries in the region.
After Dien Bien Airport was upgraded and put back into operation in December 2023, Vietnam Airlines has conducted nearly 2,700 flights, serving more than 385 thousand passengers and is currently the only airline operating here.
