As of November 3, Nam Hai Lang commune still has 603 households with 1,809 people flooded from 0.3 - 0.5m. Inter-village roads such as Cau Ha, Van Quy, Hoi Ky, Hoi Dien, An Tho, Hung Nhon, Phu Kinh, Van Tri, Ha Loc... were flooded 1 - 1.5m deep, causing many residential areas to be completely cut off.
Mr. Tran Huu Bac - Chairman of Nam Hai Lang Commune People's Committee - said that the prolonged heavy rain caused many difficulties in people's lives. In low-lying areas, familiar with flooding, people have food reserves, but are isolated for a long time, so shortages are inevitable.

"We have mobilized social resources, supporting 500,000 VND for each deeply flooded household; especially in low-lying areas, we have been supported with additional food, drinking water, and necessities" - Mr. Bac said.
Up to now, Nam Hai Lang commune has presented gifts to 155 households in the border area, 100 households in Hoi Ky village, 217 households in Van Tri village and more than 100 households in Phu Kinh village. Shock teams have also been set up to help people transport necessities and support when they need to evacuate.

In neighboring Dien Sanh commune, more than 750 households were also flooded, many of which were surrounded by floodwaters for 10 days. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu - Chairman of Dien Sanh Commune People's Committee said that the locality arranged motorboats to move people in emergency situations and bring deeply flooded households to their homes to avoid flooding safely.
"Having been isolated for a long time, people cannot avoid shortages, but we have connected volunteer groups to provide rice, water and essential items every day. The commune closely monitors so that no household is hungry or cold" - Mr. Hieu shared.

It is known that Nam Hai Lang and Dien Sanh are two localities with many households deeply flooded, prolonged during heavy rains in Quang Tri province. Although many days have passed, the floodwaters have not receded, causing people in the flood-prone area of Quang Tri to continue to face the fear of rising water again.
